A Fresh Business

It’s important to keep your business perspective fresh in order to give a healthy life to your business. Be open to new ideas, advice and methodologies. Doing so will increase the dynamics of the workplace and allow your business to have a chance to recycle old policies for new and improved procedures. Here are some great ways to make sure your processes don’t get stale: Meet with other industry professionals – regularly. We all know that brainstorming and general conversation can work wonders to stimulate new ideas. There are many professional groups that exist for just this purpose; some are restricted to membership, and others are open forums. Many of these groups even hold their meetings at fun locations outside the office, so you can work and play in the same evening. Join professional groups on LinkedIn. What I Like About Office 2013

So, I’ve officially upgraded to Office 2013 and I’ve got a few things I’d like to share about it. Here are 5 things I like about Office 2013: Streamlined – Items are streamlined with the new Microsoft style for a new age. The “look” is consistent with the Windows 8 tile format with less tabs and more highlighted tiles. Layout – The layout is very similar to that of Office 2010, with changes appearing stylistically rather than in functionality. Overall, it appears more clean and straightforward. Document History – When opening a program such as Word, Excel, or PowerPoint with the new Office 2013, you’ll see your most recent documents listed on the left-hand side of the tiled screen and your new document options on the right-hand side. This display reduces the number of clicks to find and open previous documents. Colors – The colors are more vibrant in the ...

Goodbye to Windows XP

It’s been a long journey, but the time has arrived to officially say goodbye to Windows XP. On April 8th, 2014, Microsoft will end support for Windows XP* which means security risks and compatibility issues for your business PCs. Luckily, Windows 8 is available to solve these issues. If you’re satisfied with your PC, you can simply upgrade to Windows 8 Pro. Windows 8 works across a variety of devices, including PCs, laptops, convertibles and tablets. In addition, the Windows phone with Windows 8 technology works well to update your technology. It’s entirely possible that you may need to purchase new PCs altogether. If you choose to update your technology across-the-board, you’ll minimize your effort with a Windows 8 Pro PC. I know I don’t like to be left behind, and I’m sure you don’t either! Upgrade today! Watch Your Logo

We’ve all got logos. They’re essential to our business, not only for branding and identification, but also to form a common bond among employees. Logos can be stuck on just about anything these days, but is every logo a good logo? While an all-text logo certainly serves its professional purpose on company letterhead, envelopes, and presentations, this type of logo doesn’t mesh well with mobile devices and many social media websites. In addition, marketing documentation and other materials may be marked with an unreadable logo if the image is composed only of text. It’s not a bad idea to have multiple layers of branding, as long as all the logos correspond to each other appropriately. One should be able to look at all logos in a company’s logo family and immediately know what they represent. Coordination and creativity are key. Office Revitalization

Red Level’s office expansion is complete, and with the addition of new furniture, the space will truly be a new and refreshing place for employees to work and relax. Your office might be full of stress-induced fervor, but there are ways to foster a happier productive environment: The Lunch Hour – Some employees eat lunch at their desks and take their lunch hour as a time to relax their minds and mentally break away from work. These breaks can actually enhance productivity and reduce burnout, so it’s a good idea to let employees have this break time even though they’re technically “at work.” Open-Door Policy – How many times have you been blindsided by an employee that left the company suddenly or unexpectedly put in their two-weeks’ notice when you didn’t know anything was amiss? The door should always be open for concerns, suggestions, and even complaints. Make sure your employees know ...
