6 Reasons Why Disaster Recovery Planning is Imperative

Happy Friday, Red Level blog readers. With storms and hurricanes in recent memory, let’s take a minute to remind ourselves why Disaster Recovery (DR) planning is so vital to all businesses.

  1. Preventative. By taking the time to put together a Disaster Recovery plan, you’re saving yourself months or even years of recovery down the road if a disaster were to occur. Think about your business. How important is data?
  2. Assurance. With a DR plan in place, clients’ data is protected beyond a promise with a documented plan for prevention and recovery. Wouldn’t you want your data protected?
  3. Standard. Businesses change, and so do the people who work within them. If you have a new IT Manager starting at your company, how do you expect them to be able to properly handle an unexpected disaster without a company-approved plan in place? In reality, we would hope that any new employee would have the skills to handle a disaster, but having a standard to adhere to is key.
  4. Communication. Part of a DR plan includes the contact information of all applicable parties involved. Wouldn’t you rather have a contact list already compiled, rather than scrolling through the endless contact files on your phone?
  5. Coverage. Whether you have one office or several branch locations, a DR plan will ensure that all facets of the company are considered and protected. With all branches organized, chaos and disorganization becomes minimal.
  6. Peace of Mind. Running your business, writing that report, or even thinking about what to have for dinner tonight are all common worries for many of us. Worrying what could happen to your data in the event of a disaster is one more thing you don’t need on your mind.

It’s time to reevaluate your DR plan, or work with experts to put together a brand new one. If you have any questions or concerns, please contact us through our web form or give us a call at 248-412-8200.

Have a relaxing weekend,
