Watch Your Logo

We’ve all got logos. They’re essential to our business, not only for branding and identification, but also to form a common bond among employees. Logos can be stuck on just about anything these days, but is every logo a good logo? While an all-text logo certainly serves its professional purpose on company letterhead, envelopes, and presentations, this type of logo doesn’t mesh well with mobile devices and many social media websites. In addition, marketing documentation and other materials may be marked with an unreadable logo if the image is composed only of text. It’s not a bad idea to have multiple layers of branding, as long as all the logos correspond to each other appropriately. One should be able to look at all logos in a company’s logo family and immediately know what they represent. Coordination and creativity are key. Office Revitalization

Red Level’s office expansion is complete, and with the addition of new furniture, the space will truly be a new and refreshing place for employees to work and relax. Your office might be full of stress-induced fervor, but there are ways to foster a happier productive environment: The Lunch Hour – Some employees eat lunch at their desks and take their lunch hour as a time to relax their minds and mentally break away from work. These breaks can actually enhance productivity and reduce burnout, so it’s a good idea to let employees have this break time even though they’re technically “at work.” Open-Door Policy – How many times have you been blindsided by an employee that left the company suddenly or unexpectedly put in their two-weeks’ notice when you didn’t know anything was amiss? The door should always be open for concerns, suggestions, and even complaints. Make sure your employees know ...

What are your employees doing all day?

In this age of connection 24/7, information is everywhere. People are feeling more and more plugged in and the need to constantly be online is prevalent. This trend is being brought to work where the need to continually check on statuses, twitter feeds, posts, and other continual streaming create an addiction to information. A recent Study by Kansas State University estimated that employees waste 60-80% of their time at work "cyberloafing," referring to the unproductive time spent wasted on non-critical job functions related to surfing the web. Employers should actively monitor ALL internet traffic of their staff and ensure that work is truly being done. When we present a report to a business owner of the internet usage at his/her firm, he/she is most often shocked. A recent discovery at a client showed that certain employees consumed over 90% of the company's internet by streaming ESPN during business hours. This was a ...

6 Reasons Why Disaster Recovery Planning is Imperative

Happy Friday, Red Level blog readers. With storms and hurricanes in recent memory, let’s take a minute to remind ourselves why Disaster Recovery (DR) planning is so vital to all businesses. Preventative. By taking the time to put together a Disaster Recovery plan, you’re saving yourself months or even years of recovery down the road if a disaster were to occur. Think about your business. How important is data? Assurance. With a DR plan in place, clients’ data is protected beyond a promise with a documented plan for prevention and recovery. Wouldn’t you want your data protected? Standard. Businesses change, and so do the people who work within them. If you have a new IT Manager starting at your company, how do you expect them to be able to properly handle an unexpected disaster without a company-approved plan in place? In reality, we would hope that any new employee would have the ...
