It’s important to keep your business perspective fresh in order to give a healthy life to your business. Be open to new ideas, advice and methodologies. Doing so will increase the dynamics of the workplace and allow your business to have a chance to recycle old policies for new and improved procedures.
Here are some great ways to make sure your processes don’t get stale:
- Meet with other industry professionals – regularly. We all know that brainstorming and general conversation can work wonders to stimulate new ideas. There are many professional groups that exist for just this purpose; some are restricted to membership, and others are open forums. Many of these groups even hold their meetings at fun locations outside the office, so you can work and play in the same evening.
- Join professional groups on LinkedIn. Many business professionals have discovered how useful LinkedIn can be, and if you haven’t familiarized yourself with the site, I recommend you do so as soon as possible. It will help your company’s visibility and give you an extra opportunity to share your expertise and insight. By joining professional groups on LinkedIn, you are privy to group forum chats with tips, tricks, advice and opportunities to collaborate.
- Don’t forego traditional media. Although the Internet is taking over much of our communication these days, traditional media still serves an important audience. Many members of the business community regularly receive business publications, and the opportunity to interview and be featured in these publications is an excellent way to demonstrate your expertise.
Networking is powerful, not just for leads and connections, but for ideas and change.
Until next time…
